BioChaperoneTM, Molecular Delivery System of Growth Factors

Growth factors are essential for tissue regeneration. Two of them, Platelet Derived Growth Factor BB (PDGF-BB) and Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMPs), are already approved respectively for wound healing and bone repair. However, the efficacy of these growth factors is limited for several reasons: low solubility, diffusion from the site of administration, enzymatic degradation and/or inhibition. BioChaperoneTM, a Molecular Delivery System of Growth Factors, forms physical molecular complexes with growth factors. These complexes increase growth factors solubility, maintain them on the site to treat, protect them against degradation and increase their activity. Hence, BioChaperoneTM offers a spatio-temporal controlled delivery of growth factors. Adocia has generated positive results in animal models with both BioChaperone PDGF-BB and BioChaperone BMP products. Adocia intends to launch in 2009 its first phase I/II clinical trial to establish the proof of concept of BioChaperone PDGF-BB product for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcer. |
